Sassafras Recipes:

BOILED SASSAFRAS TEA
Submitted by: TrophyHunter

When you get the roots of the sassafras tree, scrub them carefully. The small roots are better than large roots. Put water into a pan and let the water boil. When the water is boiling put the roots in. Boil until it is the strength you like.

NON-BOILED SASSAFRAS TEA
Submitted by: TrophyHunter

Pour 1 quart boiling water over 1/2 teaspoon sassafras bark and simmer 5 minutes. Do not boil. Pour into cups--sweeten to taste and add cream. It should be a light pink color when the cream is added. If not it is too strong, only add more hot water.
