Meat in the Freezer
Author William Bell - GameCalls.Net (KY)

It was a cold, windy and wet typical "Kentucky Rain" morning when I arrived at my hunting spot at 5:30 AM. It wasn't the best deer hunting weather, but I didn't want to miss out. And besides, my freezer was now completely out of venison and needed to be restocked! I longed for the taste of fresh deer meat at the Thanksgiving dinner table as we have had traditionally for many years. (Continue reading story below picture).

William Bell with the 130 lb 4-pointer he took on opening day (November 11, 2006)

I got out a bottle of Pete Rickard's Love Potion #9 and poured some into 35mm film canisters with cotton in them, 6 total in a half moon configuration around my stand. Then I sprayed myself down with a new product "Dead Down Wind" Field Spray to test it out, then got in my tree stand. After hearing that Dead Down Wind is so powerful it can neutralize gasoline and smoke fumes, I wanted to see for myself just how effective it really is.

Loaded my 7mm Mag with a 40mm 3x9 bushnell scope, {I like power}. The weather was wet and drizzling rain. I was ready. There's nothing quite like the feeling of being set up on opening day waiting for some action. I told myself I would take anything since my freezer was empty and I had no luck last year. Seen lots of squirrels jumping and playing in the trees. At 7:30 AM, two 4 point bucks walked right up on me. I did not know they were there until one coughed. I thought for sure they would spook because the wind was blowing from me in their direction.

I know for a fact this Dead Down Wind Spray works. I have been hunting deer for 40 years. Experience tells me if I did not have this scent blocker, both deer would have been spooked. The wind was blowing in their noses! I know they would have been gone fast!! Not a massive buck however I am happy. He weighed about 130 lbs. I owe it to Dead Down Wind for putting the meat on my table this year.

Good Luck to all hunters and be safe!
