Thanks to conservation and habitat protection efforts, most popular
game species have thrived in the United States during this century.
Here are the changes according to the International Association of Fish
& Wildlife Agencies:
Since 1920, Whitetail Deer have increased from 500,000 to over 14 million.
American Elk have increased from under 100,000 to over 500,000. Mule
Deer have increased from over 1 million to over 5 million, Pronghorn
Antelope have increased from under 25,000 to over 750,000, and Wild
Turkey have increased from just 50,000 to over 2 million.
